More about this plant

Mikawa yatsubusa is a true dwarf Japanese maple, dense and multi stemmed, reaching only about 4 to 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Its palmate, lobed and serrate leaves are 3 to 6 inches across, densely packed along short internodes, green through summer and turning gold, orange and red burgundy in fall on green to light brown stems. It grows slowly in full sun or partial shade in a moist, well drained soil of clay, loam or sand rich in organic matter, in an acid to neutral range, and tolerates heat. Its size makes it a container, small space and patio specimen. Watch for insect damage and for leaf scorch from wind or drought.
