We count visits so we know which plants people came to see.

What our own visit count records

Date
The day of the visit
Page
The page that was opened
Place
The postal code and city the network address resolves to
Device
Phone or computer

What it never records

  • No IP address is stored
  • No name, email or account
  • Nothing is sold

The address is never kept

Your network address becomes a postal code and is discarded in the same instant. It is never written down.

Each day’s visits are keyed separately, and that key is destroyed within two days. Today cannot be joined to yesterday.

How long it is kept

400 days, so this spring can be read against last spring. Older visits are deleted every night.

Meta Pixel and Google Analytics

This site also runs the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics. They tell us which of our ads and posts bring people here, and help Meta show our ads to people likely to visit. Meta and Google receive your network address and browser details when their code loads, and handle them under their own privacy policies. What they are told:

  • The pages you open and the plants you look at
  • What you type into the plant search
  • That you joined the newsletter or sent us a message
  • That you tapped a phone number or asked for directions

When you send a form with your email or phone number, the Meta Pixel scrambles them in your browser into a code that cannot be read back, and sends only that code so Meta can match the visit to an account. Your actual email and phone come only to us.
