More about this plant

Fireglow is an upright red Japanese maple that reaches about 10 to 15 feet tall and 6 to 12 feet wide, denser and slower growing than Bloodgood with a regular branching habit. Its leaves emerge pinkish red, darken to dark red through summer and finish a deep purple red in fall, and the plant sets a heavy crop of samaras that adds to its look. It tolerates full sun and is a long time favourite for sunny spots, though the best leaf colour comes in partial shade. Hardy to about minus 20 degrees and grown in zones 5 to 9, it works as an accent or specimen in a bed, a lawn or a large container.
