More about this plant

Inaba Shidare is a dissectum or lace leaf Japanese maple with a strongly weeping habit, growing about 4 to 6 feet tall in its first ten years and eventually reaching 10 feet tall and 12 feet or more wide. Its palmate, seven lobed leaves are deeply cut and dissected, to 6 inches long, emerging deep purple, holding a rich purple red through summer without going bronze, then turning bright red in fall. It is noted as a heat and scorch resistant lace leaf, which matters in warmer or windier climates, and it prefers a moist, well drained soil with shelter from hot afternoon sun. Use it as a cascading accent or specimen at a bed edge, patio or woodland edge.
