More about this plant

Osakazuki is a classic green leaved Japanese maple with a rounded form, maturing at roughly 15 to 24 feet tall and 10 to 15 feet wide at a medium rate. Its palmate leaves are 2 to 5 inches across with seven deep lobes and serrated margins, green through summer and turning brilliant red burgundy and orange in fall, followed by three quarter inch reddish samaras. The bark is green and light gray and smooth. It takes dappled sunlight through partial shade or full sun in a moist, well drained acid soil of clay, loam or sand, and tolerates drought and wind. Use it as a specimen, understory tree or foundation planting. It self seeds readily and can be weedy.
