More about this plant
An upright oval sugar maple selection reaching about 50 feet tall and 35 feet wide, chosen for thick glossy five lobed leaves that resist wind tatter and leafhopper damage and for reliable fall colour ranging from yellow and orange to red. Tiny yellow green flowers appear in spring before the leaves, followed by winged samaras that mature in fall. It grows slowly in full sun to partial shade in well drained soil, tolerates dry spells better than most sugar maples, and is not salt tolerant. An excellent shade tree for lawns and parks.
