More about this plant
A red maple selection grown for foliage rather than just fall colour, forming a dense, broad, upright oval crown of 35 to 40 feet tall and 20 to 25 feet wide. New leaves emerge an outstanding burgundy red and mature to dark purplish green with silvery white undersides, and in fall older leaves turn yellow while younger ones go orange or purple. The leaves are thick and leathery, so they resist tatter, scorch, powdery mildew and root rot. It grows at a medium rate in full sun, adapts to most soils including acidic ground, and is deer resistant. Good as an accent, a specimen, in mass plantings or as a screen.
