More about this plant
A slow growing small maple of 20 to 30 feet tall and 15 to 25 feet wide, grown above all for handsome bronze papery bark that begins peeling at a young age and curls back to reveal rose brown inner bark. The opposite trifoliate leaves are silvery haired beneath and colour bright red and orange very late, often persisting into winter. It takes full sun to partial shade in clay, loam or sand with good drainage across a wide pH range, but does not tolerate drought or environmental stress and prefers cooler climates. Use it as an accent or specimen near a patio or in a small space.
