More about this plant

A compact mounded sweetspire of about 2 to 3 feet tall and wide, selected for sweet summertime fragrance. White racemes open from early summer into fall and the green foliage takes on shades of red in autumn. It is one of the most shade tolerant flowering shrubs, performing from full shade through sun, and it thrives even in wet soils, which makes it a natural for a rain garden or a pond edge. It needs little maintenance beyond removing dead stems in spring once new growth appears. Use it as an edging or border plant, a groundcover, a mass planting or a small focal point; the flowers draw butterflies and pollinators.

  • Blooms in summer, fall
  • Hardy in USDA zones 5-9
