Wine & Spirits® weigela is one of our favorite new plants. An update on our classic Wine & Roses weigela, this vigorous, handsome variety combines even more dramatic dark foliage with crisp white-green flowers. A real showstopper in the garden center and landscape.
- Flowers
- Creamy white tubular flowers against dark foliage from late spring into early summer, loved by butterflies and hummingbirds.
- Foliage
- Matte, dark burgundy-purple opposite leaves with serrate margins.
- Pruning
- Rejuvenation pruning every 3 to 5 years, removing a third of the thickest branches to the ground. The irregular habit looks best left unpruned.
- Native range
- Northern China, Korea and Japan (species Weigela florida).
