More about this plant
Blue Cascade is a selection of Atlas cedar, a needled evergreen conifer in the pine family native to the mountains of Morocco and Algeria. The species carries rigid bluish green to silvery blue needles under an inch long in clusters of 10 to 30, with upright finger shaped cones on the upper branches and bark that breaks into a boxy rectangular pattern with age. It grows at a medium rate in full sun to partial shade, in clay, loam or sandy soil with good drainage, and tolerates drought, heat, pollution and salt. Atlas cedar is used as an accent or specimen tree and attracts songbirds; it drops needles and branchlets and heavy snowfall can damage its branches.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 50 ft tall and 25 ft wide
- Blooms in fall
- Hardy in USDA zones 6-9
- Evergreen foliage
- Native plant
