Hardy Chrysanthemums for Fall Color in the Landscape Available September - October
We grow Hardy Garden Mums for Fall that may be enjoyed either in containers or the landscape. When planted in a Mid-South landscape with Full Sun & well drained soil, Garden Mums will perform as perennials. To encourage the nice rounded form for Fall blooms, pinch back stems after buds appear in late Spring, removing 1/2 of tender growth. Until July 4th, continue pinching back after each 3-5 inches of growth. This will allow enough time for the Mum to set numerous healthy buds on a well-branched structure for a Fall display of color.
Like all perennial plants, Hardy Garden Mum varieties have different bloom times, described as Early, Mid or Late Fall. Mums of different colors in the same series will bloom at the same time. Whether you want to stagger blooms times or want all Mums in a collection to bloom at the same time, the bloom time information included on our Garden Mum list will be helpful.
